Originally the Post Office sorting office on Hough Lane as pictured above, the Leyland Lion is another Wetherspoons pub that has seen the transformation of a building with historical importance converted into a local public house.

The pub is named after a couple of the town's most famous exports, which were bus chassis from Leyland Motors, the Leyland Lion PSR1, a rear-engined single-deck chassis built between 1960 and 1967 and Leyland-DAB Lion, mid-engined double deck bus chassis manufactured between 1986 and 1988.
