Address: Liverpool Old Road, Walmer Bridge

The Walmer Bridge Inn lies at the junction of Gill Lane and Liverpool Road below the "Finger Post" on the 1844 map below. It's not clear whether it was there at the time of below map but I suspect the original building is the one immediately to the left of "Bolt". Later in the 19th century Walmer Bridge Mill was built on the opposite side of Liverpool Old Road, which would have provided a steady stream of trade for the pub until its closure in 1931.

Originally it was owned by the W&R Wilkins brewery who were based on Marsh Lane in nearby Longton. Listed landlords were Nathaniel Fisher (1851), Richard Harrison (1861-71), Mary Hunter (1881), William Clegg (1891-1905) and Henry Halliwell (1911).
