Bush Inn

Name: The Bush Inn

Address: Parson's Brow off Market Street, Chorley

Parsons Brow (courtesy of George Birtill collection Lancashire Lantern) c.1890

I can find no reference to this beer house on any directory or census record but it is referred to by George Birtill in his article on the old pubs of Chorley.  For more information see the following link.

1844 Parson's Brow

Parson's Brow never had many buildings although there are clearly less today judging by the 1844 map (Parson's Brow is the short lane opposite Halliwel(l) Street) so in the absence of any further information it is difficult to say with any certainty which building may have housed the Bush Inn. The building highlighted in dark shading would have been a religious property either affiliated to the nearby Methodist church or another independent chapel around at the time and is the one pictured lower down this page.

  2. Thanks Paul...I assume it was a beer house that was only around for a few years as it never appeared on any Census or directory records.
