The Conservative Club first opened in the early 1900s, located on the corner of Chorley Road and Victoria Road in Walton-le-Dale. The first recorded landlord (secretary and agent) was an Alfred Derbyshire, who was born in the village and was brought up in a pub just up the road in Bamber Bridge on Chorley Road, his father being the Inn Keeper of the Mckenzies Arms, seen below on the 1881 census.

The club continued in business for around a century until closure in 2018, but this was not the end, as it was quickly snapped up by Sean O'Hagan and his wife Debbie and reopened in November 2019 as the Taps & Wine Bar.
