The Flowering Jug was a beerhouse in the Wheelton area, probably located close to the border with Brinscall near Brinscall Hall and was the property of an Adam Brindle, a Calico Printer who was born and raised in Wheelton. I feel it was a fairly short-lived enterprise to supplement his normal work and if the above press cutting is anything to go by, his licence may have been revoked by the Magistrates in the 1860s.
The below census record shows him living with his wife Elizabeth on 'New Ground' in 1861 near Brinscall Mill and Hall.

I can find no other records of Adam or the beerhouse after this time.
