Name: Weaver's Arms
Address: Market Place, Longridge
The Weaver's Arms first appeared in the 1850s as a beer house run from a private residence. The original occupants would have been weavers, hence the name, running a beer house to supplement their income whilst the owners were a local family called the Wareings.

1911 Summary - Bretherton |
The 1911 census summary for this area is interesting because not only does it record Robert Bretherton as the landlord of the Weaver's Arms in Market Place it also confirms he had a brewhouse and stables further up the road at the junction with Fell Brow, almost certainly at the premises of the old Wheatsheaf Inn, which had closed as a public house a year or so before.

The Weavers' Arms was latterly owned by the Whitbread group but finally closed its door for good in 2012 and is now private accommodation, one of the original entrance lamps still remaining and providing evidence of its former use.
